Why camp?

We're having our wedding at camp for a few reasons:

We wanted a place where we could stay for a full weekend, so that we'd have plenty of time to spend with everyone.  Some of you are coming from very far away and we don't get to see you as often as we'd like.  If we trap you in a remote camp location for a few days, you'll have no choice but to hang out with us.

Alden likes camp and Joeli LOVES it.  As some of you may know, we met volunteering at a camp and Joeli spent a good part of her childhood summers at camps, including Camp Becket.  For us, camp is much more than a  place.  It's a philosophy focusing on the importance of family, respect for the environment, and commitment to others.  As these are many of the values we share, we could think of no better place to begin our future together.

Camp Becket

Camp Becket is a YMCA camp founded in 1903 and located on 1,200 pristine acres in the Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts.  With its ponds, streams, meadows, and forests, it will provide a beautiful setting for our wedding weekend.

We're excited to have the whole place to ourselves for the weekend.  Camp Becket's waterfront, fields, lodges, tennis courts, and cabins will all be good spots for friends and family to gather and play.  The wedding ceremony will take place at the camp's outdoor Chapel-by-the-Lake.  Afterwards, we'll all head to the reception at Gibson Hall, a great old building with lots of character.
